Ceramides (4%) - SKINPLENISH consists of a whopping 4 % ceramide complex consisting of all essential ceramides. The latter strengthens skin barrier and locks in moisture never letting your skin feel dry. Wake up in the morning feeling plump and supple!

Fun fact: Did you know that ceramides make up about 50% of our skin’s outer layer? They are essential for keeping your skin intact and healthy. Think of ceramides as your skin’s mortar, holding the bricks (skin cells) together to prevent moisture loss and shield against irritants.

Alpha Arbutin(2%) - A gentle yet powerful skin brightener that fades dark spots and hyperpigmentation, leaving your complexion looking even, clear and lambent. It is an inhibitor of the tyrosinase enzyme, that is important in the pathway of melanin production.

Fun fact: Derived from the bearberry plant, alpha arbutin is a naturally occurring skin brightener, often referred to as a safer alternative to hydroquinone. Unlike many skin brighteners that cause irritation, alpha arbutin is gentle on sensitive skin (and thus, all skin!) and delivers results without over sensitization of your skin.

The combined action of arbutin’s brightening effect leads to a more even skin tone over time. Retinol helps to improve overall texture, while arbutin targets discoloration. The soothing properties of arbutin also helps mitigate some of the irritation associated with retinol use, especially by beginners. Using them together helps balance the side effects of retinol, making this the most comfortable retinol routine you will ever experience. Added to this, the ceramide complex further works to make the application and results swoonworthy! Do away with any apprehension you have regarding retinol use if you are new to it. Why 0.2% retinol?

This is a safe and adequate percentage of retinol to start with, especially in a night cream designed for sensitive skin. When it comes to retinol, consistency of use trumps concentration. In fact, the EU recently banned all cosmetics with retinol percentage over 0.3% to prevent excess systemic absorption, since vitamin A is consumed by the population in other ways as well. This is not to say you should not use higher retinol concentrations, but that using a lower concentration does not mean it will be less effective!
